Red Hood is a DC Comics character initially known as Jason Todd, the second Robin. He first appeared as Jason Todd in Batman #357 (1983) and as Red Hood in Batman #635 (2005).
Jason served as Batman's sidekick until his death at the hands of the Joker. Years later, he was resurrected and, embittered by Batman's failure to avenge him, took on the mantle of the Red Hood.
As Red Hood, Jason employs lethal methods and a more ruthless approach to crime-fighting, putting him at odds with Batman's moral code. Despite their conflicting ideologies, Red Hood has sometimes allied with Batman and other members of the Bat-Family.
